Lutefo Estate was established by Mr. Lutendamo Mkisi in 2009 in an area with very challenging conditions. It took him three years of constant fertilization to be able to grow coffee on his farm. However his hard work and dedication paid off, with the 50 hectare farm now producing almost 100MT of parchment annually.

Located on the borders of Tanzania, Zambia and Malawi in the Igumba Village in the Mbozi district, Lutefo Estate has approximately 100 000 trees of the N39 variety. This variety is unique to Tanzania - it is a Bourbon mutation developed by the Tanzania Coffee Research Institute for its high yields.

The main short term goal for Mr Mkisi is to improve the washing station facility on the farm. Currently cherry is processed with two traditional manual machines. With a capacity of 750 kgs per hour each, far too much time and labour is spent on the pulping process.
